Me, my father and my daughter
Me, my father & my duaghter Yasmeen

I went to Sg. Tekala, Hulu Langat, Selangor with my father last week during the school holidays. He was on holiday for a week in KL. Actually it is very rare for him to come to KL for a holiday. I do not really know the real reason why this time he had chosen KL for his holiday destination. Since he will be in KL for the whole week, I’m planning to take the opportunity to bring him ‘ronda-ronda’ to the many interesting places in KL and Selangor. Unexpectedly when he was in KL last week of all the places that I’ve suggested to him to visit, he resisted to go, simply because he said he had went to that places already. But when I suggested to him to go to Semenyih, he said, YES!

Why Semenyih? The reason is because we’ve got cousins in Semenyih that we haven’t met for more than 25 years. When I proposed to him to visit them in Semenyih he quikly agreed and we went off to Semenyih the next morning. Our cousins were very happy to see him after 25 years.  During the chit chat, one of my cousin said that my father was supposed to marry her last time (that was about 45-50 years ago), it tickles me to hear she said that and we all smiles.

My posting today is not about the visit to Semenyih actually, it is about a place call Sg. Tekala, a recreational area not far from Semenyih. One of my cousin suggested that to go back to KL, instead of using the new highway he suggested that we use the federal road that will pass through Sg. Tekala and Hulu Langat. He explained to me about how nice Sg. Tekala is and also because there is one big scenic dam that we’ll pass through if we use the road leading to Sg. Tekala on our way back to KL.

He told me that he used to fish in that area before but now he no longer interested to do so. I asked him,”Why? No more fish there Uncle?” He said, “No, no, no, it is not because of that, it is because the fishes he used to catch there were always TOO BIG, it took him too much effort and time to pull the fishes off the water!” I said, “WOW! REALLY?!!” Without thinking twice I drove my car to that area on my way back to KL.

I had drove for about 15-20 minutes and finally arrived in Sg. Tekala. I found that there is a very nice and clean and clear river flowing rapidly, there are also very nice fishing ponds, a very big dam and scenic view of the hills and the Himalyan Mountains. (Attached on your right, there is a fishing competition to be held this Sunday 11/1/09 at one of the fishing pond in Sg. Tekala if your’re interested). This is to me one of the best fishing area that you can find near KL or Kelang Valley. Below are some of the photos taken from that area, I’m using my China made Camera Phone (iPhone is too expensive at Low Yat plus it has got no TV :-)) to take the photos because I did not brought the camera along with me on that day, so the quality is not that good but I hope you’ll be able to get some glimpse of that area and probably given the chance will pay a visit to Sg. Tekala during the weekends.

This is the river, it is cold, clear and chest deep, suitable for adults.

Notice that dark spot? It shows how deep the water is.

There are also swimming areas for children.

img0172a

Temporary aquarium for captured fishes, see how big they are, at least 6 kilos each (except the small one lah)!

This one looks better in actual, it’s just the camera.

You can bring the car near to the fishing ponds.

There is a warung to fill up your empty stomach while fishing also.
